Mission
To create a warm and welcoming space that respects children's need and right to play.
How?
From language and literacy development to social skills and creative expression, the children at Small Talk Nursery School are constantly being exposed to new activities and environments they can explore and thrive in.
As a play-based setting, the children's interest drives their play and play drives their development. As teachers/facilitators, we build on the strengths and interests of each child to help build a solid foundation for their future learning journeys. "Play is not only our creative drive, it's a fundamental mode of learning" - David Elkind |
Small Talk is multi-cultural
Children of every nationality, race, culture and creed are welcome at Small Talk. We aim to help the children learn to respect and enjoy each other’s cultural and language backgrounds and hope that parents assist us in this by sharing and celebrating special festivals and events.
The language of instruction is English. You have the option of choosing whether your child is spoken to in English only or in English AND Arabic. Many of the children already have more than one language at home. It is not a problem if your child has no English at first; children use many ways to communicate other than the spoken word. However, if a staff member does speak the child’s mother tongue s/he may use it to offer comfort or to explain a situation.
Once your child is ready, there is the option of Arabic after-school activities.
